I was surprised that Last Stop on Market Street, which is a picture book, won the Newbery! And my favorite pick for Caldecott that didn't even get an honor was Drum Dream Girl: How One Girl's Courage Changed Music by Margarita Engle, illustrated by Rafael Lopez. If you haven't seen that book, take a look (we have it in the system)! The illustrations are just gorgeous.

Surprised that we did not have the Caldecott winner in our catalog! I had to request it ILL. Also, I didn't think I would like it but I love it.
